Alexis Tyson

Alexis Tyson is a Baltimore creator. Although she attended BSA in the theater department as an actress, she’s a self-taught artist. Last November she had her first art show entitled ‘Heedless’ and is currently attending UMBC. To see more of her work check out her art page on Instagram @twiztiee

DVL Boys.

An original piece reimagined in my newer style. The painting is a visual representation to what I feel loneliness is. The different shades of blue and people amongst the faces are ways we can all feel washed out in our own heads. The dashes of red in the eyes, even the harsh line across the face are just the hints of anger I find in trying to understand sadness. It’s important for black girls to be able to express themselves in complicated ways beyond the anger and hardness associated with our image.
